Looking for a breathtaking panoramic viewpoint in the central highlands? Moon Plains in Nuwara Eliya sits at 6,200 ft above sea level and offers one of the most stunning 360° landscapes in Sri Lanka, often called the “second World’s End.”
Originally a potato seed farm, Moon Plains is now a peaceful nature viewpoint surrounded by dramatic mountain ranges including Pidurutalagala, Kirigalpoththa, Thotupola, Great Western, and Namunukula. The scenery changes beautifully with light, making it ideal for photography at sunrise or sunset.
At the highlight point known as Mini World’s End, you’ll experience sweeping views of rolling hills, cloud forests, and deep valleys. Wildlife sightings are possible too — including deer and occasionally leopards in the distant forest areas.
The experience is calm, short, and accessible, making it a great alternative to longer hikes like Horton Plains.
