Fishing in Negombo Lagoon

A total of 140 species of fish has been recorded in this lagoon. This lagoon is a very shallow. The maximum tidal range, at just outside open sea, inside the lagoon, is 62 cm. And the mean tidal range, at just outside the inlet, is 30 cm. The mean tidal range remained 10 cm within the lagoon. There are fairly large Ja-ella and Attanagalla rivers, in which the lagoon makes rich. Even Barramundis are found in right spots.
